GENE is a program for secondary schools students aimed to discover the potential in children end expresses it through this competition. Basically the activity will be judged according to the creativity, teamwork, and presentation from the students. Students should also be able to develop and organize themselves in order to fulfill the requirements of this competition. The brief nature for GENE is as follows:
Nature: Workshop based activity
Subject: Vertical Rocket
In this challenge, students that participate will be attending a workshop that will be handled by the committees where they will be shown to build a vertical rocket from recycle and waste material. After the workshop, they will need to develop their own vertical rocket in given time where all the material will be prepared. Moreover, their rocket will be put into test whereby the longer the time is taken to touch the ground after launching, the more they have advantage than the others.
ERIC
Eco Race and Innovation Challenge (ERIC) is an invention competition based program that comprises a series of stages. In each stage the students will be tested on their understanding in engineering fields as well as their creativity to invent hovercraft based on the themes given. This hovercraft is invented by using recycled materials and power up by solar energy that will be used in this competition.
Subject: Hovercraft
Throughout this competition, each team will go through two stages. The first stage is the presentation session in which students will present their design in front of the selected judges. Then, the second stage is the hovercraft race track challenge. It will involve in certain obstacle such as dry race, wet race and others challenging obstacle. Besides, the winner will be judged from the design sustainability, creativity in inventing hovercraft by using environmental source of energy and the fastest hovercraft in this challenge.
